Matt Wiggins, M.A. LPC-A

 Outpatient Therapist

Direct Line: (803) 886-6105

Direct E-mail: mwiggins@traumatherapyofthecarolinas.com

Hello! My name is Matt Wiggins.

  • I hold a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology.
  • I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in South Carolina.

I enjoy working with individual adults and teenagers as well as couples.

My areas of interest and expertise are:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Grief
  • Shame
  • Parenting
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Relationship attachment issues
  • Self-compassion
  • Unwanted Sexual Behaviors
  • Religious Trauma/Spiritual Abuse
  • Sand Tray Therapy

My overall therapeutic approach is integrative in nature, meaning I select therapeutic interventions that adapt to the needs of a client. For instance, this could include Relational Psychodynamics in which we explore the ways that the past is still present and create awareness of how past relationships, experiences, and trauma are impacting current emotions, thinking, and behaviors so you can have more choice about how you are facing current challenges.

A faith-based approach in therapy could be applied and integrated into the counseling process when a client deems their faith and religious life important to self-understanding, growth, and change.

My aim as a counselor is to listen deeply and to hold hope for change. The therapeutic relationship is unique among our other relationships in that it provides a time and place for you to be seen and known by a caring individual as you process, heal, and grow.

On a personal note, I enjoy all things related to bikes (riding them, fixing them, and watching people race them), reading, podcasts, and cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes. I’ve been married for over fifteen years and have children in middle and elementary school, a dog, and two birds.

Hello! My name is Gloria Stoilova.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Experimental Psychology and French Language and an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Counselor Education from the University of South Carolina. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in South Carolina.

My advanced training includes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.), Internal Family Systems (IFS-informed), Narrative Exposure Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, somatic and body-centered approaches, ACT, DBT and RO-DBT skills, CBT, ERP, Gestalt Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), mindfulness, and specialized treatment for trauma, eating disorders, body image concerns, and disordered eating.

I enjoy working with adults from diverse backgrounds who are seeking healing, growth, and stronger connections with themselves and others. Many of my clients have experienced trauma, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, or long-standing patterns that no longer serve them.

Areas of Interest

  • Complex Trauma (C-PTSD)
  • Childhood Abuse and Neglect
  • Sexual Abuse and Trauma Recovery
  • Religious and Spiritual Abuse
  • Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating
  • Body Image Concerns
  • Attachment and Relationship Difficulties
  • Anxiety and Stress Disorders
  • Grief and Life Transitions
  • Dissociation, Shame, and Emotional Regulation

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and trauma-informed. I believe our symptoms often develop as adaptive responses to difficult experiences rather than personal failures. Together, we work to understand the roots of those struggles while building practical tools for healing and lasting change.

I integrate evidence-based therapies including EMDR, A.R.T., IFS-informed therapy, Gestalt-oriented interventions, somatic approaches, Polyvagal-informed strategies, ACT, DBT skills, CBT, mindfulness, and other experiential techniques. My goal is to provide a safe, respectful environment where clients feel empowered to heal at a pace that feels right for them.

For clients who desire it, faith or spirituality can also be thoughtfully integrated into the counseling process. I respect each person's beliefs and work collaboratively to ensure therapy reflects what is most meaningful to them. It is a privilege to walk alongside individuals as they rediscover their strengths, deepen their resilience, and move toward a more authentic and fulfilling life.
