Hello! My name is Laura Albrecht-Munk.
I enjoy working with adult teens, and adults in individual therapy.
My areas of interest and expertise are:
My overall therapeutic approach is integrative in nature, meaning I select therapeutic interventions that adapt to the needs of a client. For instance, this could include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in which I implement relaxation, mindfulness, and self-compassion skills to help a client undo unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving. A faith-based approach in therapy could be applied and integrated into the counseling process when a client deems their faith and religious life important to self-understanding, growth, and change.
My aim as a counselor is to be present, listen and hear, support, inform, guide, and assist the client in their personal journey toward the positive goals set for themselves.
On a personal note, I enjoy bike riding, gardening, reading, genealogy, interior decorating, watching college football, road trips, and eating Chinese food!

I believe that our experiences (good and bad) affect who we are and how we choose to interact in our world. Therefore, I am an advocate for self-exploration and fostering awareness of one’s own thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. Multicultural Promise:
As a second-generation American, I understand that we all live and develop in environments with different values, traditions, experiences, and expectations. Therefore, I never automatically assume that I fully understand one's personal experience.
If desired by the client, it is my promise to incorporate and honor discussions of personal experience related to diversity, equality, identity, sexuality, and inclusion.

Specialties
Life can be overwhelming at times. We think we have everything sorted out and then for some reason, we realize something isn't quite working anymore. We seek help from friends, family, and social media trying to make sense of what's going on. We ask for doctors and therapists referrals, programs and apps, nutrition and exercise ideas and more. As a wife and mom, I get it and I've been there. What I've learned along the way is that our struggles, our pain are meant to be witnessed and given space to heal. I'd love the opportunity to walk beside you along the journey.
